Isn't The Onion great?
It's funnier than hell. I love the humor.
That story you linked BTW is funnier

Scoob,
I gave a rather long, drawn out explanation.
& HS & Sheila gave examples of my point.
Be happy where you are.
If one isn't happy, then they should move on to where they are happy.
I wasn't happy as a JW, so I DA'd myself and moved on.
People get fired from jobs and then co-workers are left to gossip about why they were let go.
Families get divorced
Boyfriends and girlfriends break-up.
I could go on.
But the point is that in life, there are three sides of every story.
Mine, their's, and the truth of the matter.
All explanations in between are somewhat biased and can not be avoided because it's human nature
I hate to see people on both sides of the issue waste so much energy over the particulars on this issue, including yourself.
The common goal with this board is supposed to be to help people escape from the WTS and adjust to a productive, normal life.
I hope in the near future to move on from here and get on with a normal life, only to check in once in a while to say 'Hey'.
Big Tex said this simple observation:
JWD is not for everyone. It's not meant to be. That's all.
I don't think that anything else can really be said.
Warm regards,
Paul

on the surface, i have to say that this pic seems absolutly shocking to me.
that's probably why it's at yahoo pics.
because most citizens of western culture will find it shocking as well.. .
Some cultures might feel the same way about circumcision.Blondie
Interesting observation. I could see that.

It looks horrific, but then i have to observe that the child seems as calm as if the father was rubbing a feather on the childs head.
That's one thing that makes stops me from jumping to a quick judgement on this picture.
Hell, I screamed bloody murder as a child the first time my toenails were trimmed by my father
[EDIT]
you'll have to just copy and paste it. Yahoo doesn't seem to allow direc links to their stories

Craig,
You gotta think outside the box on this one.
I have the simple solution where everone is a winner:
Let her have the top

I belong to a couple of professional forums related to architecture.
By far, this forum is more lenient than these other forums that I belong to.
The level of immaturity that is put up with here is well beyond anything that I have seen at other boards.
But these other boards are run by professionals for professionals so that we have an environment that is productive to it?s created purpose. And that purpose is for us to be able to exchange ideas and help each other out.
Complain to the owner or moderators about how they run things, and there?d be a smackdown for sure. Followed by deletion if you didn?t straighten up and fly right.
Plus you look like a complete ass arguing with someone who works at ILM, Pixar, Discreet, or WETA.
One board that is just for CG Architecture, not software specific, requires that everyone register with their full first and last names, along with making sure the software you use is registered. It?s serious enough that if you post work that is done with pirated software, you get turned in to the proper authorities.
For the owners and moderators of these forums, it?s a labor of love.
And I have learned much from these forums. I have been able to take what I have learned and then use that information in real life and improve myself as a professional. I have gained a handful of friends that I could drop in on if I was ever in the area.
The ?labor of love? seems to be the same impetus for the owners and moderators here as well.
And I have found this board to be invaluable to myself for where I am at in life right now.
With the helpful information and counsel that I have gained here, I hope I can continue to apply this to my life as well and have it enriched. I certainly have gained friendships deeper here than at other boards.
It seems that some people who fail to make the application of what is learned here into their lives outside of the DB are the ones who can have problems. Problems because they have no other life outside the DB to work out the lessons learned here.
Which is understandable because as JW?s, we typically have our lives ripped away from us, leaving us with nothing.
Just my $0.02
i love the vines.
can't wait to hear their new album.. they're coming to milwaukee 3/27 w/jet.. .
ever see them in concert?.
thx blondie.
kls, the video 'ride' on that site is a good rep of Vines music.
kinda like Nirvana with melodic Australian accents, and minus some of the angst.
More of a stripped down sound.
1st heard them on the 'I am Sam' soundtrack.
They redid the Beatles 'I'm Only Sleeping' [which BTW, is a wonderfully done tribute album to the Beatles, and a great movie to boot]
i love the vines.
